THE ROSSOUW GALLERIES
Joshua Rossouw’s investment in the world of art started in 1991 as a
trader at open-air markets and art festivals. He initially sold his
paintings, but soon started selling works for other artists.
In 1995, he acquired a cottage in the centre of
Hermanus,
where he established The Fisherman’s Gallery today known as Rossouw
Modern. This became a prime showcase for both local and national
emerging art talent. A year later he opened the Tug Gallery in
Swakupmund – his favourite holiday destination. The Tug Gallery was
closed after the opening of The Rossouw Gallery in Cape Town in 2002.
In 1999 he opened Gallery Number 10 in Hermanus where he
focused on more established artists.
The Rossouw Gallery in Cape Town was the newest addition to the
vibrant group of art galleries and after having to close due to
redevelopment for the 2010 World Cup, Rossouw Galleries was appointed to become the
leading representative of up and coming artists by joining forces
with Groot Constantia Estate.
Rossouw Modern now exhibits on a permanent basis in the Tasting and
Sales Room on the Groot Constantia Wine Estate. The Estate was
established in 1685. During the summer season (September to April)
Exhibitions @ Groot Constantia takes place every month in The Cellar
with grand and exciting openings. These events are not to be missed
– for further information go to our NEWS
page.
Rossouw Modern provides a personal service for clients based on
Joshua’s close relationship with his artists and the desire to add
value to the clients’ tastes and needs.
